Clear Up Those Blackheads

Step1

Change your skincare routine. Exfoliate daily with a gentle facial scrub. Massage the scrub in a circular motion against your face, concentrating on problem areas such as the nose, forehead and chin. Follow-up with an oil-free moisturizer to keep skin from drying out.

Step2

Use non-comedogenic beauty products. Non-comedogenic means that the products are designed to not clog pores, which in turn lead to blackheads. Get rid of all the moisturizers and beauty products with oil. The oil in these products clogs pores and promotes the formation of blackheads. Look for labels that say ';oil-free'; or ';non-comedogenic'; when browsing products.

Step3

Try over-the-counter acne medications. Acne creams containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid work to eliminate acne-causing bacteria and slough off dead skin, essentially unclogging pores. These medications can be found at your local drugstore without a prescription. Use them on areas that are particularly prone to blackheads.

Step4

Get monthly facials from a certified esthetician. An esthetician will remove stubborn blackheads effectively and efficiently without damaging your skin or causing acne scars. They can also give you professional advice and tips on how to clear up blackheads.

Step5

Consult a dermatologist. As a last resort, and if you still haven't been able to successfully clear up your blackheads, make an appointment to see a dermatologist for a skin consultation. He/she can also prescribe stronger acne medication if your skin condition warrants it.

Pimples:

Step1

Wash the face two to three times a day. Cleansing the face with unscented soap or face cleanser can prevent pimples. Throughout the day, oils and dirt collect on the face. Bacteria from oils and dirt can find their way into skin pores and cause breakouts. Washing the face removes make-up and bacteria. It also reduces the number of breakouts.

Step2

Drink plenty of water. A quick and simple way to prevent pimples is to drink at least eight glasses of water a day. Sweating releases impurities in the body. These impurities can cause breakouts on any part of the body. Drinking water flushes the body and reduces impurities.

Step3

Eat fruits and vegetables. Often times, excessive oil causes pimples. If this is the case, the best way to prevent pimples is to reduce oil on the face and body. Fruits and vegetables can minimize body oils and stop breakouts.

Step4

Keep a food journal. The acid in juices, soda and fruits can result in unsightly acne. In addition, mild allergic reactions can cause breakouts on the face and body. If unable to control pimples with water and face cleansers, food may be the culprit. Record all meals and identify foods that trigger acne.

Step5

Apply over-the-counter or prescription pimple cream. If natural treatments are ineffective, use a daily pimple or acne cream. Start with an over-the-counter cream. If this doesn鈥檛 work, see a doctor and ask for a prescription. Because pimple creams can dry the skin, apply a daily moisturizer

Big pores :

Step1

CleanseWash your face twice a day. If enlarged pores are only in the T-zone area, use a cleanser designed for combination skin. Otherwise, use a cleanser made for oily skin.

Step2

ExfoliateBefore doing anything else, exfoliate your skin to remove any dead cell buildup that may be clogging your pores. You can use an alpha-hydroxy acid or a mildly abrasive scrub, whichever you prefer. If you choose to use the scrub, remember to rub your skin gently so as not to irritate it or stimulate the oil glands.

Step3

Steam, Squeeze and ToneEnlarged pores become enlarged when excess oil and debris accumulate inside the pores. Steam your face for approximately ten minutes so that the matter inside the pores will be easier to remove. After steaming, use forefingers wrapped in facial tissue to gently squeeze around each enlarged pore. When finished, wipe clean with toner. The alcohol in the toner will temporarily tighten the pores.
